Of course, I did have to get just a tad of crafting in - so I made some curtains. I promise you there is no better place to sew (not even those amazing sewing and design rooms they get to use on Project Runway) than here, with a view like this:
80 degrees. sun. calm lake. yesterday's suites out to dry. it's sheer perfection if you ask me.
And so, I set up shop right there on the deck and got to work on 2 sets of curtains. One for the kitchen and one for a bathroom.
Until, of course, I ran out of thread and realized not only did I not have any other thread with me, I was at least 30 minutes from anywhere that might sell thread. And I couldn't bring myself to leave this view.
Luckily, I did have some iron-on hem tape that I've never tried to use before and it worked just perfectly for my kitchen curtains. Of course, I forgot to take any photos.
My sister and I also took on a small spray-paint-ugly chairs craft project. They were beautiful again in no time.
Once we were home I was able to finish up all the curtains for our office. Sewing in our 80 degree living room with no air conditioning or breeze is not my ideal sewing location but it's back to reality, I suppose. My additional fabric came in while we were gone and I was able to make two sets of curtains the exact lengths I was hoping for.
Aren't they cute? I think they'll match my purple desk just fabulously.
