Easy doesn't it

So remember when I claimd I could try my hand at doing decorative nailheads one by one on those pink chairs? Who was I kidding? I've never attempted to use them before but I thought I was up to the challenge. I was not.

Attempt 1: Didn't even last long enough to take a picutre. Just ripped out nailhead after nailhead and then pouted on the couch for the rest of the night. I bent far too many, they were unevenly spaced no matter how hard I tried, and to even think about going all the way around, not one, but two chairs, was giving me a headache.

Attempt 2: I discovered this little guy and purchased it immediately:

It was supposed to hold 5 nails in place for me, evenly spaced, and ensure perfection.
This was the result of that:
I know! How is that even possible to screw that up so much?
I tried for a good hour or so to get them perfect and again my night ended pouting on the couch.
I finally gave in and just bought the trim, where I'd only have to secure in every 5th nail. I felt like a crafting/upholstery failure as I waited immpatiently for it to arrive in the mail.

Then yesterday, before I even had my coat off, I was ripping open my package and before I even had time to kiss MQ hello I was trying it out.

Don't be alarmed at how much I bought. All 50 yards of it . . . my next project will also require these bad boys so I figured it's easier to buy them all at once.

Attempt 3: and voila! Easy as can be.

The trim is easy to cut and all you need to do is cut the desired length (be sure the edges have an actual nail in them to avoid any loose ends!), line it up, and put in your nails.
And in less than an hour you'll have 2 chairs looking like this:

There's still a tad bit of work to be done (I haven't actually covered the bottom of the chairs yet) but this is what they'll look like. Now we just need to find a place to put them!

In even more exciting news:
Our slipper chair has new fabric! We went shopping last night and I think we found the perfect print that is updated, yet keeps in the tradition of the Victorian-era chair. I'll show you picutres of it after class tomorrow.

I have been worried about our ability to finish the chair this semester but I realized that we're halfway through the semester and with 8 more classes to go, I don't see why we wouldn't finish. Randy forces us to take our time, but we have 24 hours of class time remaining and I think we'll be able to bring her home May 18!

And! Look what I scored on Craigslist this morning for $20:

Clearly, Michael and I do not have room for this in our home (I don't have room for the 2 chairs I just finished!) so I'm looking for a possible owner once I'm done (and no pressure, but I'm pretty sure it could easily fit in the back of someone's Jetta and make it to Southern Ohio . . . ). I want to try my hand at tufting so it could turn out to be a bit of a mess and I have no idea when I'll have time to work on it but eventually it will need a home!
