It was an exciting night at class yesterday, my friends . . . . . that's right, fabric time!
Ok. So there was a little prep work. We had to finish the muslin on the back and arms of the chair before we could get to our fabric. All the muslin needs to be tacked on first to make sure it's on just right, with no wrinkles, and then you need to go around and staple it all, taking each tack out as you go. Seems like an added and unnecessary step, but it pays off.
As my mom finished tacking, stapling, and removing the tacks, I started on our fabric.
And here she is:
I laid it out on the beautiful massive cutting and measuring table and had my excel spreadsheet of all my exact measurements ready to go. With some precise measuring and chalking I got it all laid out and finally, cut.
At that point we didn't really have much time left in class but I just had to see what the fabric would look like on the chair. We start with the seat first so here's a quick sneak peak:
You can't tell in these photos, but the colors really bring out the wood (which we're going to do a deep clean of next class before we start attaching fabric) and I am really happy with our choice - not too modern, not too dated.
It's nice to finally be in a spot where I feel like we're moving things along. Only 7 more classes to go, my friends!
