twenty-six cents

Remember how I needed a new door to finish my desk project? We drove out to ReStore on Saturday morning and I secretly pouted in the car about the $2-$5 I'd need to spend on another door because of my own carelessness.

I was prepared for the hassle of finding the perfect door to fit my $5 budget when we quickly walked in and almost walked right past the most beautiful sale sign I'd ever seen.
There it was. Shining brightly in green dry-erase marker:

Sale! Hollow Core Doors: $0.25

We made a beeline to the back where there were dozens and dozens of the doors I needed, for only a quarter. I was in heaven.

Michael picked out the perfect replacement door and we took it to the register where we paid, with tax, twenty-six cents. That's it! I even felt a little guilty.

I spent Sunday painting and today it's up and running and looking much better than the original. Total cost of both doors: $2.26. I can handle that.

This desk and I will get to know each other well over the next four years and I hope she's able to live up to my expectations.
