For starters, I got this:
Yes, a sweater clip. On Etsy. I wear it every chance I get and adore it.
Then, we spent most of late May and Early June preparing for the wedding of two of our favorite people in this world. And then we spent the weeks following gushing about it and wishing we were Indian enough to have an Indian wedding (or Indian at all . . . ).
(I do have even more before photos, but they're on my mom's camera . . . I'll get them!)
We had someone come and look at the wood (which we very briefly contemplated getting refinished until we got the $3,000 pricetag . . . ) and found out that the pieces are part of a pre-Civil war era set - probably around the 1840s or so. He thought, based on the webbing in the love seat, that they've been reupholstered once before. Clearly, though, they're in need again.
We've already re-done the chair - at least up until the muslin. We picked out fabric already too! I'll get you that soon.
This will be a slow-moving project. It's at my mom's house so I don't end up working on it nightly (probably a good thing if you ask MQ) and they're in need of a whole lot of TLC. I'm hoping by the end of September or so they'll be good to go.
I've also been in full-force back to school mode and decided our office needed a makeover (mainly because it had become Brian's den and was blah and we never really used it or made it look nice) and I needed a desk. So we made a trip to ReStore where I had to convince my doubting sister, brother and husband that I could paint an ugly $2 door and make it into my desk.
And wouldn't you know it but this:
became this:
in just about an hour. With Brian's continued supervision, of course.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out and I now have a purple door that needs a home.
You see, I ordered two of these snazzy legs from Ikea without much thought (or measuring . . . ).

They came in a million pieces, I sat and put them together for two hours, and was pleased. Then I set it all up and put my lovely new purple door across them.
And realized the legs were a good 4 inches or so wider than the door.
And it looked ridiculous. And in all my stubbornness and in an effort to prove that my idea was good, I tried to ignore it and hope Michael didn't notice.
And of course he noticed. Immediately.
Oh, well. I'll get a new door this weekend and use my remaining paint on it and we'll act like that never happened. At least the idea is still good and the end product should be just as good.
I'll keep you posted. For real this time.
