Pauline

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Pauline.

(Brian loves her already)

We picked her up yesterday from an older woman named Pauline who's getting ready to move to Alabama. This was Pauline's first time selling items on Craigslist and our email conversations last week provided me lots of entertainment. For example, one of her emails: "WOW!!! This word wide website must be something a lot of people see. Craig's List has given me a full time job!" (Don't worry - I warned her about all the possible Craigslist scams out there- she'd be an easy target otherwise)

So cute. She loved this chair - called it her "Queen chair" and was more than happy to have someone take it off her hands and promise to take good care of it. I didn't have the heart to tell her I was going to reupholster it, but it will be well-loved, I'm sure.

It's really comfortable, by the way! I think this chair is headed to Cincinnati when I'm done, but Michael is already scheming about ways he can keep it.

I forgot to ask her how long she's had it, but there's a tag on the bottom from Gimbels Department Store in Milwaukee - which closed in 1986.

It will sit in the basement for a few more weeks still but then I'll update you on her progress.

Before we get to Pauline, I think we're going to make a headboard. Michael has been drooling over this beauty at Crate and Barrel for years. Years.

I think it's insane to spend $1700 on a headboard. So we're compromising this month and making our own and I guarantee I can spend well under $100 on it. I think we'll keep it pretty neutral and simple and add a simple nailhead trim (since I have several yards still . . . ) but I'm hoping this doesn't turn into anything more complex than a simple weekend project.

  1. I cannot wait to see the headboard you make!! I dream about making a crushed velvet one. Probably a creamy light brown. Maybe someday I will be as crafty as you, glad you're blogging! :)
