Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Pauline.
So cute. She loved this chair - called it her "Queen chair" and was more than happy to have someone take it off her hands and promise to take good care of it. I didn't have the heart to tell her I was going to reupholster it, but it will be well-loved, I'm sure.
It's really comfortable, by the way! I think this chair is headed to Cincinnati when I'm done, but Michael is already scheming about ways he can keep it.
I forgot to ask her how long she's had it, but there's a tag on the bottom from Gimbels Department Store in Milwaukee - which closed in 1986.
It will sit in the basement for a few more weeks still but then I'll update you on her progress.
Before we get to Pauline, I think we're going to make a headboard. Michael has been drooling over this beauty at Crate and Barrel for years. Years.

I think it's insane to spend $1700 on a headboard. So we're compromising this month and making our own and I guarantee I can spend well under $100 on it. I think we'll keep it pretty neutral and simple and add a simple nailhead trim (since I have several yards still . . . ) but I'm hoping this doesn't turn into anything more complex than a simple weekend project.
I cannot wait to see the headboard you make!! I dream about making a crushed velvet one. Probably a creamy light brown. Maybe someday I will be as crafty as you, glad you're blogging! :)
