Old Mother Hubbard

Since we're on spring break this week from upholstery class I thought I'd undertake another crafting project to fill my time. I've actually been contemplating this one for awhile and finally had time.

This little cabinet is a hand-me-down from my cousin -and after my sister used it for about a year, it sat in my mom's garage, collecting dust. When Michael and I moved back to Milwaukee and into a little house with a tiny kitchen (and minimal storage) we decided to give it some love and put it to good use.

It's been perfectly nice for the past 9 months or so but I've been wanting to paint it and brighten it up a bit. I never got around to picking out a color or purchasing paint  . . . . until this weekend!

I didn't actually pick out the color - or purchase the paint. My aunt is in the process of painting my brother's room and she bought a sample of this paint and decided against it. In an effort to not waste paint (and save myself some money) I decided to try to it out on our cabinet.

Unfortunately, given that it was just a sample, it didn't cover the whole thing - so I scrounged around the basement and brought up the white paint we used in the kitchen a few months ago to paint the inside shelves.

And then I just swapped out the knob for this little guy I bought months and months ago but had no use for. It actually works kind of nicely with the paint choice.

It isn't exactly how I had envisioned painting her (I was actually considering wallpapering the inside back wall . . . ) but it's worth it for the money I saved. And the agony I would have spent trying to find the perfect paint/wallpaper combo.
