Orange stripes to green dots

I recently finished this project for my mom. She had this not-so-cute orange striped velour wingback chair she got from our neighbor’s estate sale well over a decade ago. It was begging to be renewed.

There was a small delivery tag on the bottom of the chair from an upholstery company in Milwaukee and the delivery date: April 9, 1976.
Sure enough, as I took off the fabric there were remnants of its original fabric: a lovely lime green. So I’m not quite sure how old the chair is but given that it now has its third coat, I’m impressed at its longevity. They really don’t make ‘em like they used to, huh?

In just over a week I was able to transform this comfortable and well-loved chair into a beautiful new addition to my mom’s living room (still comfortable and well-loved, of course).

The fabric (which was fabulous to work with!) was left over from a project my aunt was doing on her dining room chairs. She was gracious enough to send the remaining fabric our way and I hope I did it justice!

Michael didn't participate in this one much. Moral support, I suppose. And he did let his wife spend several nights tucked away in a back room stapeling away - and there's something to be said about that.
