Friends: Now accepting applications

Let's get straight to the point. Michael and I don't have a lot friends. In Milwaukee, at least. We have some (and we love you!), but part of this ongoing problem is honestly a lack of availability. We rarely have time to hang out together, much less make the effort to see other people (really. it's Tuesday afternoon and the next time I will see Michael when we are both awake and out of bed is Friday evening).

So, we've been on the hunt for more/new friends. I know, it seems ridiculous, right? But, this Sunday evening we're having 4 future friends that Michael knows from work over and I honestly feel like it's a cross between a first date and an interview. I'm already thinking about what I'm going to wear.

Maybe we should just write an ad for Craigslist: We're fun, we're crafty, we're really nice. Please be our friend. But don't be too high maintenance because we don't have a lot of time.

It reminds me of this wanted ad from 1964:

Wanted: a nanny for two adorable children.

If you want this choice position, have a cheery disposition.
Rosy cheeks, no warts! Play games, all sort.

You must be kind, you must be witty, very sweet and fairly pretty.
Take us on outings, give us treats.
Sing songs, bring treats.

Never be cross or cruel, never give us caster oil or gruel.

Love us a son and daughter . . . .

Well, you get the point. I could even use that wording exactly and just swap out 'nanny' for 'friend' . . .
And look, they ended up with this wonderful woman! We would love a friend like Mary Poppins (minus the whistling. Michael hates that).
