Tomorrow is a big day: Operation Renovate Great-grandma's slipper chair.
(Don't mind that it's in the middle of our kitchen . . . I couldn't carry it any farther by myself! For a small chair, it's REALLY heavy. And she's missing a wheel so I couldn't wheel it either! Michael was busy worrying about his iphone lost in Wisconsin snow piles somewhere.)
This is the lucky chair my mom and I picked out for our upholstery class this semester. It will be a tough project (and we only have 3 hours a week to work on it!) but I'm hopeful it will turn out better than expected. I’ll do a big reveal in May, but I'm hoping our teacher will let us take pictures during class so I can keep you posted on how it's coming along!
We are taking it into the studio tomorrow for class to get started, but I’m going to try and be an over-achiever and get started removing some of that fabric tonight . . . I can’t help myself!
In other news, we finally gave in and actually purchased the fabric for our orange duo. I spent Sunday morning measuring and cutting and organized and finally have the fabric labeled in piles ready to be attached.
Michael picked out a Bombay Mahogany stain that should contrast nicely with the fabric and he's slowly but surely getting the sanding done so we can finally get them stained.
I spent time Sunday re-stuffing and padding the backs of both chairs – now only awaiting fabric. The seats still need padding, but that will hopefully be completed this weekend (without regard for the sanding or staining that really should be completed first . . . ).
Michael continued to sand away as I watched patiently and gently encouraged him to work faster – it’s day 16 and fabric attachment hasn’t even begun!
Day 16
Total time spent: 12 hours
P.S. No, I am not wearing a sweater clip today (again, blatently ignored on my Valentine's Day wish list) and Yes, Michael's iphone was found. By me. In my mom's back yard. In a huge snow pile. Frozen but working.
